Tutti Frutti Love Story

This is by far one of the most thematic manicures I’ve done for an occasion! I don’t usually keep up with festivities when it comes to my nails, but I was really feeling this one. I name this manicure “Tutti Frutti Love Story”, after an episode in FRIENDS where Chandler told Ross that the tuxedo he was holding is not a James Bond tux. Random!

Ok there’s a lot going on in here – base is OPI Girls Just Want to Play (a pinkish red), topped with ChG Fairy Dust, a coat of OPI Heart to Resist (strategically placed glitter hearts), and a pink/purple glitter gradient with OPI Excuse Moi?

Above is with warm lighting under my lamp!

With cool lighting. You’d never suspect that these pictures were taken with my iPhone!

With indirect sunlight by my window. Yeah, I think this manicure is too girly for me.

Ah, valentine’s! I’ll share a love poem from my favorite poet Pablo Neruda:

I do not love you as if you were a salt rose, or topaz
or the arrow of carnations the fire shoots off.
I love you as certain dark things are to be loved,
in secret, between the shadow and the soul.

I love you as the plant that never blooms
but carries in itself the light of hidden flowers;
thanks to your love a certain solid fragrance,
risen from the earth, lives darkly in my body.

I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where.
I love you straightforwardly, without complexities or pride;
So I love you because I know no other way

than this: where I does not exist, nor you,
so close that your hand on my chest is my hand,
so close that your eyes close as I fall asleep.
